Tools for Teachers - Slideshare

Slideshare is an easy way to share any Powerpoints, documents, or videos with students/faculty who may not have Microsoft Office on their home computer. It's also compatible with mobile devices, so the presentation will play on them as well.

You have the capability of uploading a podcast,or audio, to SlideShare as well to create a SlideCast. (This is a little trickier - I'll cover it in my next post.)

The basics of Slideshare
Click here to go to Slideshare's website and sign up for a free account. Once you've got the account set up, you should see an orange button at the top of screen that says Upload. Simply click on the Upload button, and browse on you computer to find the file you'd like to share with your faculty or students. Here is an example of what an uploaded presentation looks like.

Once you've uploaded the file, you can send the link to your audience, or choose to embed it on your class webpage/blog. My students have used this to help them study for upcoming quizzes or tests. Also, it's a great resource for absentee students.
